Lecture: “The National Memorial Day of the Exiles and Foibe – a disputed border”

The talk offers an in-depth overview of the modern history of the Eastern Adriatic. It explores a territory of exceptional complexity – one of the most distinctive regions in Europe and the only area on the continent where the three major European cultural traditions – Latin, Germanic, and Slavic – have historically met and often clashed.

The lecture concludes with an analysis of current geopolitical dynamics in the Venezia Giulia area, with particular focus on Trieste and its strategic port, a key logistical hub within today’s emerging commercial and military framework.
